Do You Fit These Criteria?
The Perl College is seeking the best applicants for the thirty available free seats. The goal of the Perl College is to train junior level Perl hackers so that they can be placed in intermediate level Perl jobs. Here are some of the criteria that will be used as part of the admission process. You will need to cover these and other points in your application essay and interview (see below). The people we are looking for:
  • Are seeking a new or better Perl job
  • Know some Perl and want to learn much more
  • Are a recent graduate and want to start a Perl career
  • Use some Perl at work but want a job doing more Perl
  • Can't get a decent Perl job without more experience
  • May be open to relocation
  • Love Perl
Prerequisites
The Perl College is aimed at junior level Perl hackers so students need to have a basic understanding of Perl. Here are some of the important topics and links to documentation that you should know. You don't need to know these topics in depth but you should know enough to handle intermediate level classes. The Perl College is not meant to be a way to learn Perl from scratch.
Apply to be a Perl College Student
  • A maximum of 30 students will be accepted
  • You must be actively seeking a Perl career
  • Submit your current resume (only HTML, pdf or plain text accepted)
  • Submit samples of your Perl code. A CPAN ID is great.
  • Write a 250 word essay on why you want to attend the Perl College and what you want to get out of it
  • Semi-finalists will also get a phone interview
  • Send your application to
Student Requirements
  • Attend all five days of classes
  • Pay for your own transportion, room and board
    • Financial aid may be available
  • Be available for conversations and interviews with hiring sponsor representatives
  • The Perl Hunter is your exclusive employment agent for hiring sponsors for six months after these classes are over
